A note from Lisa Borre, founder of Nurture & Nerve
I believe businesses can be built differently.
Humanity and performance were never meant to be opposing forces.
My work has taken me inside organizations to build teams, advise leaders, navigate growth, redesign systems, and help businesses through moments when the way they’ve always operated no longer works.
But my understanding of business started long before my career did.
I grew up around people who built things.
Business was never abstract in my family. I grew up watching entrepreneurs carry the responsibility of creating something that supported employees, families, customers, and communities.
What happens inside a business is deeply personal to the person who built it.
I understand the tension founders live with—the pride and possibility, the responsibility, and the decisions no one else quite carries in the same way.
It’s why I’m often able to translate between the owner’s vision and what the organization needs to make that vision real.
I work to understand what the owner is trying to protect, what the organization is trying to become, and what needs to change for both to thrive.
I’ve spent my career inside the work.
For more than two decades, I’ve worked across organizations and industries helping leaders navigate the moments when growth makes the old way of operating no longer enough.
I’ve built teams, redesigned organizations, developed leaders, shaped talent strategy, coached executives, and helped translate ambitious ideas into the structures and systems required to deliver them.
My work has taken me from human resources and organizational development into executive leadership and the Integrator seat—giving me a view of both the human and operational sides of a business.
I’m less interested in handing leaders a recommendation than helping them build the clarity, capability, and systems to carry the work forward after I’m gone.

Why Nurture & Nerve
Nurture & Nerve grew from a belief I’ve carried with me for a long time: businesses can create extraordinary performance without losing their humanity.
NURTURE
The humanity required to build something people want to be part of.
Trust · Belonging · Development · Generosity
Nurture deeply. Lead courageously.
NERVE
The courage required to make it work.
Candor · Accountability · Performance · Change
Neither is enough on its own. Healthy organizations require both.
The deeper story behind this work is personal.
